Food Safety

Frey Farms recognizes its responsibility to provide safe products to our customers through the entire production chain – growing, packing and distribution – and the importance of fresh fruits and vegetables to public health. 

Consumers have an expectation that their food is safe to eat, and we are committed to supplying produce that meets the expectations and specifications of our customers.

We have a dedicated Director of Food Safety that continuously monitors our operations, conducts random in-house audits, and verifies our protocols. All of our farms and facilities are audited annually by an outside third-party under GAP (Good Agricultural Practices) or GFSI (Global Food Safety Initiative) standards, and we strictly adhere to the FDA Guide to Minimize Microbiological Food Safety Hazards for Fresh Fruits and Vegetables and the FDA Commodity Specific Guidelines for Melons.

We follow Good Agricultural Practices (G.A.P.), we have established Standard Operating Procedures (S.O.P.) for all of our operations (growing, harvesting, packing, cooling, and shipping), our personnel have been trained in personal hygiene and our foremen monitor activities throughout each shift, we operate under HACCP, and we have a trace back and recall program.
